President John Dramani Mahama has called on African nations to capitalise on shifting global dynamics to secure their place in the evolving economic landscape.
Speaking at the Kwahu Business Forum on Saturday, April 19, the President emphasised the need for Africa to move beyond its traditional trading mindset and embrace manufacturing, industrialization, and entrepreneurship.
“The world is changing, and new opportunities are being thrown up. We, as a country, must take advantage of those opportunities,” President Mahama stated.
He highlighted the ongoing trade wars between major economic powers as a catalyst for global shifts in production, presenting Africa with a unique chance to assert itself.
Reflecting on historical trends, the President noted that Africa has often missed out on the benefits of major global transitions, from the Cold War to the era of globalisation.
However, he expressed optimism about the continent’s potential to leverage current geopolitical changes.
President Mahama urged Africans to rethink their economic roles, encouraging bold ventures into agribusiness, digital entrepreneurship, and large-scale commercial farming.
“We can be anything that we want,” he affirmed.
The Kwahu Business Forum continues to serve as a platform for policymakers, entrepreneurs, and investors to discuss strategies for economic development and private sector empowerment across Ghana and the continent.
