Former Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, K.T. Hammond, has appealed for unity within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the party gears up for its January 2026 presidential primaries.

He expressed worry over increasing internal wrangling, which he attributed to divisive remarks and attempts to sideline members who lack financial influence.

Speaking during former President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign tour in the Ashanti Region on September 10, Mr. Hammond urged aspirants and party members to prioritise unity over personal interests.

“Where were the rich people when we were struggling to get money to establish the NPP in the 1990s? Where were the rich folks before the NPP won its first election? Some of us who supported the party don’t brag. We fought for this party with our blood and sweat.

“This behaviour of the rich distancing themselves from the poor must cease. The innuendos must cease, and disunity must stop,” he said.

Mr. Hammond emphasised that unity and discipline will be vital to the NPP’s chances in the upcoming elections.
