Ghana’s new Ambassador to China, Kojo Bonsu, has officially assumed office in Beijing with a firm pledge to deepen diplomatic relations and deliver results.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the former Kumasi Mayor said he is committed to working hard and fulfilling his mandate with excellence.
“As I assume office today in Beijing, I am ready to work hard and deliver on my KPIs. I’m committed to strengthening the ties between Ghana and China, while ensuring that my mandate is fulfilled with excellence,” he wrote.
Kojo Bonsu, born Michael Kojo Bonsu (also known as Mensa-Bonsu), is a well-known Ghanaian businessman, sports administrator, and politician.
He served as Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly from 2013 to 2016 and is a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
His appointment as Ambassador comes at a crucial time, as Ghana seeks to deepen trade, investment, and development cooperation with China — one of its largest economic partners.
With his blend of public service experience and private sector insight, Mr. Bonsu is expected to play a key role in advancing Ghana’s strategic interests in Asia.
