Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has congratulated the University for Development Studies (UDS) football team for emerging champions of the 2025 FISU University World Cup Football, held in Dalian, China.
In a message shared on her social media platforms, the Vice President commended the team for their outstanding performance throughout the tournament.
The UDS team secured the historic title with a 2-1 victory over Paulista University of Brazil.
“Your determination, teamwork and resilience have lifted Ghana to the pinnacle of global university football. This victory is a triumph for UDS and the entire nation. Know that you have written your names in history and inspired young people across Ghana and beyond. Congratulations,” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stated.
In response, UDS expressed gratitude to the Vice President for her support during the team’s journey, from the quarter-finals to their record-breaking achievement as the first African team to win the title.
