The Ministry of Education has provided STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) equipment to 29 districts in Greater Accra, which will be distributed to 299 basic schools across the region.
The Ministry explained that the initiative is aimed at enhancing practical learning in STEM subjects for basic school children, ensuring that theoretical knowledge is complemented with hands-on experience.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Education at the handover ceremony in Accra on Tuesday, November 25, Chief Director of the Ministry, Lydia Essuah, emphasised that the equipment is not merely logistical support but a strategic effort to drive national development through STEM education.
“For Ghana to compete globally, create decent jobs, and strengthen our economy, we must build a generation of innovators, designers, and critical thinkers, and that journey must begin at the basic school level. The equipment we are providing today is not merely a logistical activity but a strategic national investment,” Essuah stated.
Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, urged schools to ensure that the investment yields tangible results. He also stressed the importance of regular maintenance to prolong the lifespan of the equipment and maximise its benefits for students.
