Kwaku Kwarteng, Member of Parliament for Obuasi West and a member of the Kennedy Agyapong campaign team, has expressed confidence that New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong can secure the party’s flagbearer slot and go on to become President of Ghana.
Speaking in an interview with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV’s The Point of View on Monday, January 26, Mr. Kwarteng said Mr. Agyapong possesses the sense of urgency needed to confront Ghana’s challenges.
He described Agyapong as a politician who stands apart from his contemporaries.
“Kennedy Agyapong is a different kind of politician. Kennedy is the only politician I see across the political divide who can disrupt the status quo that has kept this country back. I think that makes Kennedy stand out, and I also think he’s the one with the right sense of urgency to confront the wrongs that have kept this country for so long,” he said.
The NPP is scheduled to elect its presidential candidate on January 31, 2026. The race features Kennedy Agyapong, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Ing. Kwabena Agyepong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Dr. Bryan Acheampong.
