Members of Parliament from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) paid a courtesy visit to the party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to congratulate him on his victory in the just-ended presidential primary.
The delegation, led by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, visited Dr Bawumia at his residence following his decisive win in the party’s presidential primary held on Saturday, January 31.

The MPs used the visit to reaffirm their support for the new flagbearer and to assure him of their commitment to working together to strengthen the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The gesture is seen as part of efforts to promote unity within the party after a keenly contested internal election.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerged as the winner of the NPP presidential primary after securing 110,643 votes, representing 56.48 per cent of the total valid votes cast.
His closest contender, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, placed second with 46,554 votes, representing 23.76 per cent.
Dr Bryan Acheampong came third with 36,303 votes, accounting for 18.53 per cent of the votes.
Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum finished fourth with 1,999 votes, representing 1.02 per cent, while Kwabena Agyei Agyepong came fifth after polling 402 votes, representing 0.21 per cent.
