The Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, on Monday, March 30 received a high-powered delegation from the palace of the Overlord of Dagbon, His Majesty Ya-Naa Abubakari II, at his residence.

The visit, initiated personally by the Ya-Naa, was described as a significant and heartfelt gesture to inquire about the Minister’s health and recovery following his recent major accident.

Leading the delegation, the Paramount Chief of Zangbalun, Naa Dr Yakubu Mahama, conveyed a goodwill message on behalf of the Dagbon overlord, emphasising the Ya-Naa’s concern for the Minister’s well-being and his vital role in national development, particularly in the education sector.

According to the statement delivered, the Ya-Naa urged the Minister to prioritise his health, noting that “Ghana’s children need their Education Minister well and focused,” while also expressing gratitude to God for sparing his life and offering prayers for his continued protection and recovery.

The visit underscored the strong cultural values of compassion, unity, and leadership within the Dagbon Kingdom, highlighting the enduring role of traditional authority in fostering social cohesion and national support.

Haruna Iddrisu, in response, expressed profound appreciation to the Ya-Naa and the delegation for their thoughtful visit, describing it as a demonstration of solidarity, compassion, and goodwill during his recovery period.

The engagement reflects the deep bonds between traditional leadership and public service, reinforcing the importance of empathy and collective responsibility in national life.
