The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a temporary power outage that will affect parts of the Eastern Region following the fire outbreak at GRIDCO’s substation at Akosombo.

In a notice issued on Monday, April 27, 2026, ECG said the fire has reduced power supply to the region, making it necessary to curtail electricity supply to several communities.

The company stated that the affected areas will experience a power outage from 12:00 am to 6:00 am on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

Communities to be affected include Oda Quarters, Akim Swedru SHS, Asikuma, Amanfopong, Duakon, Nkwatia, Abetifi, Pepease, Hweehwee, Sempoa, Abene, Ankaase, Effiduase, Asokore, GHANASS, Suhum Township, Akwatia No.4, Achiase, Nkawkaw township (parts), Osenase, Mangoase, Akim Oda Post Office and other surrounding areas.

The company assured residents that engineers are working to rectify the fault and restore supply as quickly as possible.

ECG also apologised for the inconvenience caused to affected customers.
