The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has commended the Muslim community for its continued contribution to national development.

He said their commitment to peace, education, entrepreneurship, morality and social harmony has helped promote development in the country.

Addressing worshippers during the Eid al-Adha celebrations in Kumasi, Dr. Amoakohene highlighted the unwavering devotion of Prophet Ibrahim and his willingness to submit fully to the will of Allah. He noted that the Prophet’s example teaches humanity, sacrifice for a higher purpose, steadfastness in difficult moments and complete trust in God.

He stressed that these values are not only religious principles but also essential national virtues.

The Regional Minister further stated that Ghana requires sacrifice, unity, discipline, honesty and compassion, adding that these qualities are necessary to build a prosperous and peaceful nation.

He noted that government recognises the important role religious bodies play in strengthening national cohesion and promoting responsible citizenship, and pledged continued engagement with them as development partners.

Dr. Amoakohene also observed that the world is currently facing economic challenges, social divisions and uncertainty, and called for unity among citizens.

He said the spirit of Eid encourages care for the vulnerable, support for the needy and kindness towards neighbours.

He urged the public to remember the poor, widows, orphans and those in hardship, and encouraged the youth to remain hopeful, disciplined and focused, stressing that the future of the nation depends on their energy, innovation and patriotism.

“As I conclude, I want to thank you all for your continuous support to the government over the past one and half years. May Allah bless Muslims, may Allah bless Ashanti Region and may Allah bless Ghana,” he added.

Eid al-Adha, known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience and trust in Allah. It is marked by prayers and the ritual slaughter of animals, with the meat shared among family, friends and the less privileged.
