The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has joined the global call to end stigma surrounding menstruation, urging greater awareness, access to menstrual products, and improved support systems for women and girls across the country.
In a Facebook post to mark Menstrual Hygiene Day, GHS stressed the need to break the silence around menstruation and promote open conversations on menstrual health.
According to the Service, every girl and woman deserves access to accurate information, safe menstrual products, and the necessary support to manage their menstrual cycles with dignity and confidence.
It called for collective action towards building a “period-friendly” Ghana where menstrual health is understood, respected, and prioritised by all stakeholders.
“Today, on Menstrual Hygiene Day, we join the global call to break the silence and end the stigma surrounding menstruation. Every girl and woman deserves access to accurate information, safe menstrual products, and the support needed to manage their periods with dignity and confidence.
“Together, let us build a #PeriodFriendlyGhana where menstrual health is understood, respected, and prioritized by all,” GHS said.
