Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced the completion of repair works on the transmission pipeline at the Barekese Water Treatment Plant, leading to the resumption of water production for Kumasi and surrounding communities.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, GWL said the repair works were completed at 4:00 a.m., significantly ahead of the scheduled completion period.
The company said the successful and timely completion of the repairs was due to the dedication and professionalism of its technical and operational teams who worked tirelessly to restore services to customers.
The restoration of production is expected to improve water supply to residents within the Kumasi Metropolitan Area and adjoining communities who were affected by the disruption.
Management of Ghana Water Limited expressed appreciation to customers, stakeholders, and the general public for their patience, understanding, and cooperation throughout the repair exercise.
GWL reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and sustainable water services and pledged to continue implementing proactive measures aimed at improving service delivery across the Ashanti Region.
