Two men have been remanded into lawful custody by the Adabraka District Court for allegedly causing the death of an unidentified man who reportedly entered their residence at Tesano in the early hours of April 10, 2026.
The accused, Mawuli Wordy, a machine operator, and William Quaye, an engineer, have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and murder.
The prosecution said their alleged involvement in the incident was uncovered following a review of CCTV footage obtained from the Police Emergency Command Centre.
The court did not take their pleas and remanded them into custody to reappear on June 30, 2026.
Chief Inspector Apeweh Achana, who led the prosecution, told the court that the complainant in the case was the State.
He said on April 10, 2026, at about 0800 hours, the Police Emergency Command Centre informed officers that a lifeless body had been found by the roadside in front of the former Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly office at Tesano.
A police team dispatched to the scene found the body of an adult male with deep wounds to the head and the back of the skull.
The body was subsequently conveyed to the Police Hospital mortuary, where it remains pending identification and autopsy.
The prosecution said investigators later obtained security footage from the Police Emergency Command Centre, which allegedly showed the deceased and another individual scaling the gate of the accused persons’ residence and entering the premises at about 0200 hours on the same day.
The footage allegedly captured the accused apprehending the deceased, while the other individual managed to escape.
According to the prosecution, the accused subjected the deceased to severe beatings and later called in some neighbours, who joined in assaulting him.
The unidentified man was allegedly lynched and his body abandoned in front of the former Municipal Assembly office, directly opposite the accused persons’ residence.
Chief Inspector Achana said the accused persons were arrested on June 10, and investigations are ongoing.
