The Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has called on the Black Stars to play with pride, unity, and determination as they begin their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign against Panama.

In a goodwill message issued on Tuesday, June 17, the Speaker conveyed Parliament’s full support for the national team, stressing that Ghanaians across all political, religious, and ethnic divides are united behind the Black Stars.

He said the World Cup moment should serve as a reminder that national unity transcends all differences, adding that the team carries the hopes of over 30 million Ghanaians.

According to him, the Black Stars should approach the tournament with confidence and courage, noting that the national team has always symbolised pride, hope, and resilience in the face of challenges.

He urged the players to wear the national colours with honour, play as a united team, and give their best on the pitch, assuring them that the entire country stands firmly behind them.

“As Speaker of Parliament, I urge you to play with passion, confidence and belief. Let the world see the talent, discipline and character that makes Ghana a respected football nation,” he said in the message.

He encouraged the players to embrace the pressure of the global stage, describing the World Cup as a platform for those who dare to dream and seize their moment.

The Speaker expressed confidence that the team could inspire a generation with their performance and bring pride to the nation.

He concluded with a message of encouragement, wishing the Black Stars success as they seek to make a strong start to their tournament campaign.
