Lawyer Barima Sarpong, a native of Afigya Sekyere East, was on Tuesday given a rousing welcome by chiefs, party stalwarts, and residents as he toured the constituency to reconnect with his roots and outline his vision for the area.
The visit, described by locals as a “homecoming of service,” began with a courtesy call on Dawumanhene, Nana Frimpong Ababio Otumfuo Brempong at his palace in Dawu. The Chief warmly received the lawyer and offered prayers and blessings for his ambition to serve the constituency.
From Dawu, Barima Sarpong moved to Tabre and Jamasi, where he held engagements with opinion leaders, NPP stakeholders, and community members. A key stop was a meeting with Hon. Kwadwo Okyere Mpiani, former Chief of Staff under President John Agyekum Kufuor, who received him at his residence.
Addressing residents at the various durbars, Lawyer Barima recounted how the people of Afigya Sekyere East shaped his upbringing and values. “Dawu, Tabre, and Jamasi are not just towns on the map. They are the foundation of my story. I have come back home because service to my people is the highest calling I have,” he told the crowd.

Our reporters on the ground were met with spontaneous testimonies from constituents who described him as “humble, wise and kind.” Chants of “Lawyer Barima is ours” and “We want Lawyer Barima” rang through the durbar grounds as party members expressed confidence in his leadership.
Barima Sarpong contested the NPP parliamentary primary in 2023 but was unsuccessful. Speaking on his future political plans, he said he remains hopeful and guided by faith. “God has a plan for me, and I believe it shall surely come true. My desire is to serve Afigya Sekyere East with integrity and bring real development to our people,” he stated.
Both Nana Frimpong Ababio and Hon. Kwadwo Mpiani gave their blessings to his quest to represent the constituency in Parliament, urging him to continue working closely with the grassroots.
The visit has already sparked renewed conversations within the NPP base in Afigya Sekyere East about who best represents the aspirations of the constituency ahead of future elections.
