A staunch member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Novihoho Afaglo, has extended his deepest condolences to the thousands of Ghanaians devastated by recent floods across the country, with a particular focus on Accra and the Ketu South Constituency.
Speaking to The New Republic, Afaglo expressed profound sorrow over the loss of lives, destruction of property, and the immense suffering of displaced families.
He emphasised the trauma of watching homes and livelihoods swept away by floodwaters.
“My thoughts and prayers are with every family affected by these floods,” Afaglo said.
“No one should have to go through such an ordeal, and I stand in solidarity with the people of Accra and the good people of Ketu South during this very difficult time.”
Drawing attention to the Ketu South Constituency – a coastal, low-lying area in the Volta Region highly vulnerable to seasonal flooding – Afaglo called for drastic, long-term measures to mitigate the annual occurrence of these disasters.
He urged government agencies and humanitarian organisations to swiftly deploy relief materials and emergency support to all affected areas, ensuring no victim is left behind.
Furthermore, Afaglo called on the private sector, civil society organisations, and well-meaning citizens to rally together in the spirit of national solidarity to support the relief efforts.
He concluded by encouraging affected communities to remain resilient, assuring them that they are not alone in their time of need.
