FirstBank Ghana has officially launched the fourth edition of its flagship Junior Internship Programme (JIP) at its head office in Accra, reaffirming the Bank’s commitment to developing financially responsible, confident and future-ready young people. The event brought together partners, parents, and young customers to celebrate another exciting chapter of the programme.
This year’s edition, which is the fourth, is scheduled to run from Monday, July 20 to Friday, September 4, 2026, and is designed for children aged 10 to 14 years. The JIP seeks to deepen financial literacy among young people, expose participants to the professional work environment, cultivate an early savings culture and prepare them for future career or professional success. Through carefully structured learning experiences, participants will engage with professionals across various departments of the Bank while developing communication, teamwork, critical thinking, discipline and problem-solving skills.
Speaking at the launch, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FirstBank Ghana, Mr. Osahon Ogieva, “at FirstBank Ghana, we believe that the future of our nation depends on how intentionally we invest in today’s young people. The Junior Internship Programme is more than a holiday activity; it is a platform that introduces children to the world of work, teaches the importance of financial responsibility and helps them develop the confidence and character needed to become tomorrow’s leaders.”
Mr. Ogieva further underscored the importance of equipping children with financial knowledge and practical life skills from an early age stating that, “by exposing children to practical workplace experiences and sound financial principles early in life, we are helping them to develop habits that will serve them throughout their lives. We are proud that the Junior Internship Programme continues to create lasting impact for our young customers and their families while reinforcing our commitment to nation-building.”
The 2026 edition aims to welcome many participants both new and existing, whose parents or guardians open a new KidsFirst or MeFirst account for them with a minimum deposit of GHS500 or maintain a minimum deposit of GHS500 in their existing KidsFirst or MeFirst account. Beyond creating memorable learning experiences for participants, the programme supports FirstBank Ghana’s broader objective of promoting financial inclusion, encouraging regular savings and strengthening long-term relationships with families.
Parents and guardians whose children participate in the programme can expect a unique blend of learning and practical engagement that exposes participants to banking operations, customer service, workplace ethics, digital innovation and collaborative problem-solving. The experience is carefully designed to build confidence, curiosity and leadership potential in a safe, engaging and professional environment.
The continued success of the Junior Internship Programme reflects FirstBank’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, education and community development. Over the past years, the initiative has grown into one of the Bank’s flagship corporate responsibility programmes, positively impacting over one thousand young customers and preparing them to make meaningful contributions to society.
The 2026 edition of the JIP is supported by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Ghana National Association of Private Schools, Pepsodent, Papa’s Pizza, IPMC, Pina Foods, Agate Transport Services, Digital Education Platform and Rigworld International.
