Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says government is committed at improving the lives of Muslims in the country.
Speaking after a tour of some Muslim communities in the Central Region, Dr. Bawumia said the allocation of funds from the national budget for the development of such communities is a strong indication of government’s resolve.
“The government of President Akufo-Addo has the Muslim community at heart. That is why for the first time in sixty years we have a budget for Muslim communities,” the Vice President said.
He also disclosed that government has employed over 3,000 Arabic instructors to teach Muslim communities in the country about Islam.
Other interventions
According to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has plans to also supply farmers across the country with fertilizers, seeds and extension services to help in the planting for food and Jobs.
“We will supply the farmers with basic things like fertilizers and seeds to make the Planting for food and Jobs successful and this will bring more yield,” Dr. Bawumia added.
He also indicated that the reduction of electricity bill by 30% for businesses and 17. 5% for households is an indication that the government has Ghanaians at heart.
The Vice President indicated that lepers across the country have been placed unto the Livelihood Empowerment against Poverty (LEAP) program and will receive allowances in due time.
Among some of the mosques, the Vice President visited in the Central Region were the Bawjiase Central Mosque, the Agona Nyarkrom Central Mosque among others.
He takes his tour to the Western region where similar activities would take place.
