The 1983-year group of the Holy Child Senior Secondary School at Cape Coast in the Central Region has donated a new block to its alma mater to help enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
The block located in the heart of the school forms part of the group’s pledge to support infrastructure to enhance the quality of education.
The donation is also part of activities to mark the 40th anniversary of the 1983-year group reunion celebrations since the members completed the school.
President of the year group, Prudence Danso-Dapaah in a statement said the remarkable initiative aligns with the year group’s vision of empowering students and giving back to society and Alma mater.
“We believe that every child deserves access to quality education and a nurturing learning environment. By donating this building, we aim to make a lasting impact on the lives of students and contribute to the overall development of our community,” Ms. Danso-Dapaah said.
The new facility he indicated was a result of collaborative efforts amongst all the members of the year group, the local community, and dedicated partners who share the passion for education.
The group emphasized that it embarked on the project to create this storage space where staff can organize the stock orderly, clean environment, recognizing the critical role good health and welfare in education plays in shaping the lives of young minds.
The statement further said the initiative represents only one facet of HOPSA ‘83’s comprehensive commitment to education.
Members of the year group pledged their commitment and dedication to supporting the growth of educational institutions, empowering teachers, and implementing innovative programs that enhance learning outcomes.
The project brought together architects, engineers, and construction professionals to ensure a high-quality structure that meets the needs of the school today and in the years to come. Spanning 49 by 32 feet, the facility is designed as a stand-alone kitchen storage room to support the boarding facilities, enhance the health and welfare of the students.
The celebrations of the group’s reunion start from July 6-9 2023.
The handing over ceremony of the new building is however expected to take place on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Holy Child Senior Secondary School in Cape Coast followed by a celebratory banquet that evening.
The celebrations will be climaxed with thanksgiving and a church service at the school on Sunday, July 9, 2023.
