Parliament is scheduled to resume sittings today [Tuesday] after its recess.
This was confirmed by a statement signed by the Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye.
This meeting of Parliament will last for about 12 weeks.
Among the Bills to be considered during this meeting include the Ghana Railway Development Bill, the Occupational Safety Health Bill, the Affirmative Action Bil and the Creative Arts Bill.
Keen interest will also be on the Right to Information Bill, which is at the committee stage.
Committee meetings are expected to continue, including the Accra sittings of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
The Appointments Committee of Parliament will also vet President Nana Akufo-Addo’s nominee for Deputy Special Prosecutor, Cynthia Lamptey.
If approved, Cynthia Lamptey will assist Martin Amidu, who was sworn in as the Special Prosecutor in February.
President Akufo-Addo nominated Jane Cynthia Naa Korshie Lamptey for the position of deputy Special Prosecutor on April 26.
She is a lawyer of 30 years standing at the Ghana Bar and a former acting Director of Public Prosecutions.
Recall from recess
During its recess, MPs were recalled on Thursday, April 26 to consider the Continental Free Trade Agreement for ratification.
Parliament eventually gave its backing to the agreement, which seeks to boost intra-Africa trade through the creation of a single market for goods and services.
This was in service of Ghana’s hopes to host the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat
A formal from the AU has been made to Ghana to host the Secretariat.
Processes leading to the final selection of the country to host the Secretariat had already begun, and a decision will be taken at the next summit of the Heads of State and Government in July.
