7 signs the person you’re dating is totally in love with you

If there’s one thing that confuses us no end, it’s knowing whether the person we’re dating actually cares.

Sure, they send you cute text messages and let you keep a toothbrush at their place, but what does it all mean? Is it love, or are they just keeping themselves busy until something better comes along?

We spoke to relationship expert, matchmaker and all-round dating aficionado Matthew Hussey to get his take on the seven sure-fire signs that the person you’re with is crazy about you. And why shouldn’t they be?

1. They push the relationship forward

When someone feels truly in love, they feel certain. That means they lose any commitment-phobia and will want to find ways to bring you closer together. Any signs that they’re planning a future with you (even if it’s just talking about living together one day) are a sure sign they feel devoted to you.

2. They get sweet and affectionate

Even the toughest of eggs to crack will have soppy, soft moments when they feel in love. Usually they’ll want to be more physically affectionate in terms of hugging and kissing, and they’ll feel more protective towards you.

3. They’ll be eager for people in their life to know who you are and meet you

As soon as someone’s heart is soaring, they’ll want everyone to know about it and sing from the rooftops like they’re in The Sound of Music. They’ll want to bring you out with their friends, or introduce you to their brothers and parents, so that they’ll love you as much as they do.

4. They want to spend A LOT of their free time with you

You know when it’s moved beyond the ‘casual-fling’ stage when someone wants to hang out with you, even when they’re just working or doing something chilled at home. If they start involving you in their normal, routine, everyday life, it’s a sign they want you to be a bigger part of it.

5. They’ll want to do things that make you happy, instead of seeing them as a chore

A person who is in love will live to see you happy. That means they’ll actually learn the things that you love, whether it’s bringing you your favourite coffee in the morning, or taking you to that concert you keep talking about. When they’re listening to what you love and trying to make it happen, it’s a sure-sign they want you to love them.

6. They tell you they’re thinking about you

Quite simply, if someone tells you often that they’re dreaming of, or thinking about, you, it means you’re someone they see as a big part of their life. When you’re in their head, it means you’re also pretty close to their heart.
