The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta has admonished Parliament to support the laying of the Import Regulation Bill 2023.

The Legislative Instrument seeks to restrict the importation of 22 selected strategic products into the country to boost local production.

The proposed bill has faced fierce opposition from the Minority in Parliament and other stakeholders in the trade industry.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Ken Ofori-Atta explained that, the implementation of these regulations will go a long way in boosting international trade.

“I’ll take this opportunity to ask the house to support Hon. K. T Hammond’s legislative instrument, which will go a long way to support our drive for more exports and reduce our imports.”
