The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Customs Division Ladies Club-headquarters branch donated some relief items to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital and the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital on Friday, April 26, 2024.
The initiative forms part of its corporate social responsibility efforts. The donation included toiletries, oil, rice, used clothes, and other essentials.
Cynthia Ama Geraldo, the Chief Revenue Officer of GRA, Customs Division in an interview with Citi News, indicated that her outfit is committed to charitable giving aimed at supporting the needy.
She said, “We are here to make this donation because we know that they are lacking a lot. They need a lot as well but then this is our widow’s mite and it is part of our social responsibility to give back to society so as we are here this afternoon, we are just saying they should take this and then it will help them support the children.
“Early on we went to the Psychiatric hospital to present some donations. They also have some 250 people they feed in a day which is not easy and if organizations don’t help it will not be possible.”
Miriam Nutaku, the Senior Administrative Officer at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital acknowledged the items, emphasizing the timely intervention of the donated items.
“We want to say a very big thank you for the thoughts of coming to donate to us. In a society where we live, we need these things to better support the people in our care. We pray that this is not going to be a one-off thing, but it is going to strengthen our relationship with GRA-Custom Division,” she stated.
Rockson Obeng, Senior Administrative Manager at the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital, expressed appreciation to the GRA ladies.
“On behalf of the hospital management, the staff, and the patients we are most grateful for this kind gesture from GRA. It will go a long way to help the patients. We are most grateful,” he said.
