The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled an emergency meeting for Thursday, July 4, 2024, to finalise the selection of a running mate for the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The meeting, called by National Chairman Stephen Ayesu Ntim, will follow separate meetings of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Council and is expected to make a decisive decision on the matter.
The NPP in a statement signed by Justin Kodua Frimpong General Secretary, said, “I extend to you warm greetings from the National Secretariat of the Party. By the order of the National Chairman, Mr Stephen Ayesu Ntim, you are hereby notified that there will be emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Council meetings on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at different times.”
On Friday, June 28, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia presented the nomination of Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate to the majority caucus, receiving assurances from the Majority Leader that the NPP MPs fully support his choice.
On Monday July 1, Dr. Bawumia formally notified the party executives of his decision to select Dr. Opoku Prempeh as his running mate, solidifying his nomination ahead of the upcoming elections
