The Supreme Court has stated that the Speaker of Parliament’s ruling on October 17, which declared four parliamentary seats vacant, will result in “irreparable harm” to thousands of Ghanaians in the affected constituencies as well as to the Members of Parliament involved.
The apex court emphasized that the best way to address this harm is to stay the Speaker’s decision, allowing for an expedited hearing of the substantive matter.
This course of action is particularly crucial given that there will be no by-elections to fill the vacant seats before the December 7 elections.
