The government has announced a substantial allocation of GHS683 million to support teacher and nursing trainees in the 2025 budget.
Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson disclosed the allocation during his budget presentation in Parliament, emphasising the government’s commitment to investing in the education and healthcare sectors.
“We have also allocated GH¢203 million for the payment of the Teacher Trainee allowances and another GH¢480 million for Nursing Trainee allowances,” Dr. Forson announced.
The allocation of GHS203 million for teacher trainee allowances aims to provide financial support to aspiring educators, ensuring they can complete their training without financial burdens. This move is expected to encourage more individuals to pursue careers in teaching, ultimately strengthening the country’s education system.
Similarly, the allocation of GHS480 million for nursing trainee allowances is intended to support those training to become nurses. By alleviating financial pressures, the government hopes to attract and retain more individuals in the nursing profession, addressing the critical need for healthcare professionals in the country.
