The Ghana Police Service has passed out 545 recruits, comprising 298 females and 247 males, at the Ashanti Regional Police Training School in Kumasi.
Speaking at the passing-out ceremony on Friday, July 4, the Director-General of Services at the Ghana Police Service, COP Dr. Ernest Kwabena Owusu, emphasised the critical role the police will play in supporting the government’s 24-hour economy initiative.
He revealed that a special security unit has been established at the Police Headquarters to support this policy direction.
“The Ghana Police Service has a cardinal role to play. The police will be expected to provide the needed security to ensure that the citizenry and everyone are well protected at all times. In line with its proactive measures, the Police Administration has established a new unit at the Headquarters known as the 24-Hour Economy Security Secretariat to support this effort.”
He urged the recruits to serve with humility, integrity, and diligence. Dr. Owusu also cautioned them against intimidating the public, reminding them of their responsibility to uphold peace and ensure public trust in the service.
