Deputy Minister-Designate for Health, Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has pledged her commitment to helping reduce the backlog of unemployed doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals if approved by Parliament.

Speaking during her vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Friday, July 25, Dr. Ayensu-Danquah acknowledged the efforts already made by the Health Ministry and indicated her readiness to support further recruitment.

“The issue with doctors and nurses has already been addressed by my able minister [Kwabena Mintah Akandoh]. My last update with him about 10,000 doctors have already been brought back into the health system.

“They are still in the process of putting a lot of other nurses and allied health professionals into the health system. Once I get to the ministry, I will work with him to see how best we can so that we don’t have any backlog of doctors and nurses who have not been employed by the government.”

Dr. Ayensu-Danquah also expressed appreciation to healthcare workers across the country for their dedication and patriotism.
