Flagbearer hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, has urged Ghanaians to focus on national development rather than partisan politics, warning that the country’s current trajectory is unsustainable.
In an interview on The Point of View on Channel One TV on Wednesday, October 22, Agyepong stressed that while political parties play an important role, the broader interests of Ghana must take precedence.
He argued that addressing the nation’s challenges requires committed leadership willing to prioritize the country over political considerations.
“I have always believed that the country is bigger than the party,” Agyepong said. “It is not only the party that needs fixing; the trajectory that we are on as a country is a dangerous one. It is not a sustainable one. We need leaders who are prepared to work hard to develop our country.”
The former NPP General Secretary, who is among the party’s presidential aspirants for the 2028 elections, reiterated his commitment to policies that strengthen national institutions, promote accountability, and ensure sustainable development across all sectors.
Agyepong’s remarks come amid growing concerns over political polarisation and the need for visionary leadership that can unite the country and guide it toward long-term stability and growth.
