The Legal Aid Commission says it will complete the registration of all its outstanding non-current assets, particularly lands across the country, by the end of June 2026.
Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in Accra on Friday, October 31, Edmund Amarkwei Foley, the Executive Director of the Commission, noted that these lands had been surveyed.
He noted that while some properties, such as the 0.72-acre land in Takoradi and the property in Kumasi, have been registered and documented, other sites, including Tamale and Koforidua, are still in the process of registration.
“Since last year, we have surveyed the lands, and our next step is to ensure the necessary payments are made so that registration can be completed,” Foley said.
He added that the Tamale property, located on the premises of the Judicial Service, has not yet been finalised, while documentation for Kumasi is complete.
Foley emphasised that the Commission aims to avoid litigation and is actively engaging with the Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission to expedite the process.
“We are committed to ensuring that by the end of the second quarter of next year, June 30, 2026, all these lands will be registered and have proper titles,” he stated.
