The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has refuted media reports suggesting that it recorded losses exceeding GH¢3 billion in its first year of operations, describing the claims as “false” and “deliberately contrived.”
This response comes on the back of a publication by Accra Asaase Radio suggesting that GoldBod was operating at a major loss.
In a statement issued on Monday, November 17, 2025, the board insisted that the report is baseless and undermines its contributions to Ghana’s economic revitalisation.
“The publication under reference is entirely false and deliberately contrived to undermine the successes and significant contributions of the GoldBod,” the statement said.
According to the board, contrary to the claims, it has been making “significant surpluses and profits” since its establishment. It added that upcoming quarterly financial statements—soon to be published on its official website—will confirm its strong performance.
GoldBod also urged the public to disregard the report, calling on Asaase Radio to retract the story and issue an unqualified apology for what it described as a misleading and unethical publication.
