Mahama: Anti-corruption fight not targeted at anyone

President John Dramani Mahama has clarified that his administration’s renewed fight against corruption is not aimed at any specific individual but is intended to strengthen accountability across all levels of government.

He stressed that his government remains committed to confronting corruption decisively and without favouritism.

Speaking during a courtesy call by the Christian Council of Ghana at the Jubilee House on Tuesday, November 18, the President issued a firm warning to members of his administration, emphasising that every official would be held responsible for their actions.

“We’re going to take corruption fight to a whole new level. And it’s not anything personal against anybody. Our problem with the fight against corruption is that it’s always post-regime corruption that we fight,” he said.

President Mahama disclosed that he has already warned his ministers, noting that the same standards being applied to prosecuting cases involving the previous government will equally apply to his own appointees.

“I have served notice to my ministers that the prosecutions we’re taking against the previous government, woe betides the first person who brings a scandal to this government. We shall hang them on a cross. And you will follow our Lord Jesus Christ and will not resurrect again. We must deal with the corruption that has taken place.”

The government is currently pursuing several corruption-related cases involving officials of the former administration.

President Mahama assured the Christian Council that his government remains committed to promoting integrity and strengthening institutions mandated to combat corruption.
