The Kennedy Agyapong campaign has projected that the electoral fortunes of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary will largely depend on how fellow contender, Dr Bryan Acheampong, performs on election day.
Speaking on Channel One Newsroom on Wednesday, January 28, spokesperson for the campaign, Kwasi Kwarteng, explained that internal projections suggest that Dr Bryan Acheampong’s showing could significantly shape the final outcome for Dr Bawumia.
According to him, the Kennedy Agyapong camp expects its candidate to secure a decisive victory with no less than 52 per cent of the total votes, leaving the remaining share to be split among the other aspirants.
“Ken will not be doing anything less than 52%, the rest should be left between Dr. Bryan Acheampong and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Bawumia’s performance will be contingent on how Dr. Bryan performs. I hear Bryan wants to do wonders on the election day. If he is able to do that then probably, he will be getting about 9%, that essentially will give Dr. Bawumia about 38% thereabout,” Kwasi Kwarteng said.
The NPP presidential primary is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 31, across all constituencies nationwide.
The race features former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Abetifi MP Dr Bryan Acheampong, Bosomtwe MP, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and former NPP General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong.
