Ali Inusah, a beneficiary of the Citi Opportunity Project on Education (COPE), has expressed deep gratitude to the foundation, describing its support as pivotal to his academic success.
Speaking to Citi News during his graduation ceremony at the University of Ghana on Tuesday, February 17, where he earned a Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance, Ali reflected on the foundation’s role in his education.
Ali first rose to national prominence in 2021 when he graduated as valedictorian from the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
Reflecting on his undergraduate experience, he highlighted COPE’s sponsorship of his hostel accommodation, calling it life-changing.
“The impact of the COPE foundation on my academic journey has been immense. They sponsored my hostel fees throughout my undergraduate studies. They’ve done this for various students who are excelling in their respective fields,” he said.

He emphasised the importance of education in national development, urging young people to remain focused despite economic challenges.
“The importance of education cannot be underestimated. I believe that as a country, our best bet is education. The youth must take education seriously, regardless of the challenges we are facing. Once we have an educated youth, we are equipped with the skills and empowered to find solutions to those problems,” he stated.
Ali encouraged young people facing financial difficulties not to abandon their educational ambitions, stressing that determination and excellence can attract support and open doors to opportunity.

“There are many young people who do not take their education seriously because of financial challenges, but that should not deter them. I am living proof that even without strong financial backing, when you put your best foot forward, help will come,” he added.
The Citi Opportunity Project on Education (COPE), an initiative of Citi FM and Channel One TV, provides financial assistance and other support to brilliant but needy students across the country.
Ali’s journey — from COPE beneficiary to UPSA valedictorian and now a Master’s degree holder from the University of Ghana — highlights the transformative impact of targeted educational support.
