The father of a well-known Kumasi-based beautician, Sally Benson, who has allegedly been beaten to death by her boyfriend of over 10 years, is calling for expedited justice.
Sally Benson is reported to have been assaulted by her boyfriend, 48-year-old businessman Francis Arthur, after she visited his residence with a female friend upon receiving information that another woman had been there. The suspect was initially not at home when they arrived.
According to the Police, Arthur later returned and was confronted by the deceased. During the ensuing altercation, he allegedly assaulted her repeatedly.
She reportedly collapsed, after which Arthur transported her in her own vehicle to the KNUST Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
In an interview with Citi News, the father of the deceased, Apostle Gabriel Oppong, indicated that the suspect initially went into hiding but later turned himself in when he could no longer evade arrest. He is currently in police custody.
The incident occurred on April 14, 2026, at Ayigya-Maxima in Kumasi.
The suspect, Francis Arthur, made his first court appearance at the Asokore Mampong District Court, where he was remanded into custody to reappear on May 8, 2026.
The death of Sally Benson, owner of Sally’s Cosmetics Studio and African’s Special Pub in the Asokwa area, has left her family and associates in shock.
Her body has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Meanwhile, her father, Apostle Gabriel Oppong, speaking to Citi News, expressed deep grief over the loss and called for justice for his daughter and the entire family.
“I know Ghana is ruled by laws, and justice is what we are looking for. And we don’t want it to be delayed. We need justice for Sally and for the family.
“This is what we are all looking for because Sally was doing well, and she’s a determined, young lady who serves as a role model to other siblings. In fact, we need justice,” he said.
