The General Manager of the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Albert Kofi Owusu, says traditional media organisations risk losing significant revenue to content creators if they fail to adapt to changing trends in the media industry.

He noted that content creators are currently generating substantial income from digital platforms, revenue that would traditionally have gone to established media houses.

Speaking at the Africa Media Bureau Media Convergence in Ghana Conference themed ‘The Future of Media Practice, Education and Policy in Ghana,’ held in Accra on Wednesday, April 29, Mr Owusu stressed that professionally trained journalists must evolve with the changing media landscape by adopting the strategies used by content creators.

“These are the times we are in, and professionally trained journalists have to adapt like the content creators are doing and make a lot of money,” he said.

He encouraged journalists to embrace digital tools and innovative content production methods in order to remain competitive and financially sustainable in the modern media environment.
