The Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South, Ransford Owusu Boakye, has announced plans to investigate the alleged falsification of receipts linked to payments made for the operationalisation of the event centre at Koforidua’s Jackson Park under the previous administration.
He said preliminary checks indicate that no official documentation exists to support claims about the management and operations of the facility, which has recently become the subject of a dispute.
The controversy was sparked by the Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Kofi Okyere Baafi, who alleged that control of the event centre had been taken from a local operator and handed to a non-native of Koforidua.
But Boakye dismissed the claims as inaccurate.
“There is no document covering the operations of the event centre at Jackson Park,” he said, adding that the assertions made by the MP do not reflect the facts available to the assembly.
He further disclosed that receipts linked to the facility’s operations appear to have been falsified and will be submitted to investigative authorities.
“I will hand over the falsified receipts to EOCO and other investigative bodies for further action,” he stated.
The development is likely to intensify scrutiny over the management of public facilities in the municipality and could trigger broader investigations into financial practices under the previous administration.
