A tragic road accident has claimed two lives and left several others injured at Nkonya Bumbula in the Biakoye District of the Oti Region after a passenger bus overturned.
The accident involved a 50-seater bus travelling from Accra to Salaga.

Preliminary reports indicate that the vehicle somersaulted at a curve, with a suspected tyre burst and over speeding believed to have contributed to the crash.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service responded promptly to the emergency, arriving at the scene to carry out rescue operations.
Firefighters worked swiftly to extricate trapped passengers from the wreckage and provided immediate assistance to victims.
The injured were subsequently handed over to the Ghana National Ambulance Service and transported to the Margaret Marquart Catholic Hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities confirmed that two persons lost their lives in the incident, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

After the rescue operation, firefighters remained at the scene to clear debris from the road and restore the free flow of traffic, which had been temporarily disrupted due to the accident.
The incident adds to growing concerns about road safety, particularly on long-distance routes where speeding and mechanical faults continue to pose significant risks to passengers.
