Executive Director of the Africa Media Bureau, Samuel Attah-Mensah, has called for deliberate efforts to redefine Ghana’s media landscape, stressing that industry conversations must move beyond analysis to actively shaping the future.

Delivering opening remarks at the Media Convergence in Ghana conference, themed “The Future of Media Practice, Education and Policy in Ghana” on Wednesday, April 29, he stressed the need for a clear and urgent response to rapid changes driven by technology.

“Traditional media, radio, television, and print are no longer operating in isolation, as we can all attest to. Technology has transformed how stories are told, how audiences engage, and how media businesses survive and thrive,” he said.

He emphasised that technology has fundamentally reshaped storytelling, audience engagement, and the sustainability of media businesses, warning that survival in the evolving landscape will depend on the ability to adapt.

Attah-Mensah said the conference is designed to move beyond diagnosing challenges, positioning it as a platform to bridge the gap between academia and industry while confronting critical questions about the sector’s future.

He also underscored the need to safeguard ethics, credibility and public trust, insisting these values must remain central even as innovation accelerates.

“At Africa Media Bureau, we believe that the future of media depends on collaboration between you lecturers that are represented here, the editors that are seated here, the students and the professionals between policy and practice.

“And we trust that the conversations here will lead to practical recommendations, stronger partnerships and lasting impact,” he added.
