The Nsawam District Police Command has arrested and secured the remand of three suspects in connection with the murder of 42-year-old Nicholas Nyadjor at Aduakrom in Nsawam earlier this month.

According to a Police Wireless Message, the incident occurred in the early hours of March 8, 2026. At about 1:00 a.m., six armed men, wielding cutlasses, attacked the Nyadjor family home.

During the attack, Prince Asamoah, 24, sustained a deep cut to his left palm, while Nicholas Nyadjor and one of his children fled the scene. The assailants allegedly made away with GH¢60,000 belonging to the deceased.

At about 6:30 a.m. the same day, Abigail Nyadjor reported to police that her husband had been found dead in a nearby thicket.

Police immediately launched an investigation, led by the District Crime Officer, ASPOL Eric Darkey, under the direction of District Commander SUPOL Stephen Appiah. A team of officers, supported by the Eastern Regional Crime Scene Management Team, was deployed to the scene.

Investigators found blood stains on the walls, household items, and the compound floor, which led them about 17.79 metres into a thicket where the body of the deceased was discovered. The body, found naked and covered with a black polythene, had multiple cutlass wounds to the back, chest, and stomach.

A search of the area led to the recovery of a blood-stained double-edged cutlass concealed in cement blocks about 10 metres from the body. The body was later conveyed to the Nsawam Government Hospital for preservation and autopsy.

Further intelligence gathered by police indicated that the deceased was allegedly killed by his stepson, Prince Asamoah, and an accomplice, Wisdom Ameletsi, also known as Sariki, in the presence of Abigail Nyadjor. The suspects allegedly dragged the body and dumped it in the thicket.

Police also established that the suspects attempted to kill the deceased’s 15-year-old son, Richmond Nyadjor, who survived by pretending to be dead before escaping.

Prince Asamoah was subsequently arrested and admitted to the offence during interrogation. Further investigations led to the arrest of Abigail Nyadjor and Wisdom Ameletsi.

All three suspects have been remanded into prison custody as investigations continue.

The police say the swift response and coordinated operation led to the timely arrest of the suspects and recovery of key evidence.

The Ghana Police Service has urged the public to continue providing information to support the fight against crime.
