Mmratehene of the Ayanfuri Traditional Area, Nana Kwabena Okyere, has died after reportedly accidentally shooting himself during a funeral at Ayanfuri in the Upper Denkyira West District on Saturday, May 9.
The incident, which has since triggered shock in the community, saw the traditional leader sustain a severe gunshot wound during the event. He was rushed to the Ayanfuri Pentecost Hospital for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
His body has been deposited at the Dunkwa-on-Offin Municipal Hospital mortuary, pending further investigations and autopsy.
Police have commenced investigations to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
