The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) has postponed the implementation of the revised Container Administrative Charge (CAC) from May 1, 2026, to July 1, 2026, following intervention by the Minister of Transport.
In a notice issued to the shipping public and industry stakeholders, the Authority said the extension is intended to allow for broader consultations and stakeholder engagements before the final charges are approved.
According to the GSA, the additional time will help ensure that the final fee structure reflects the interests of all parties within the shipping and logistics sector.
The Authority further announced that an interim regulatory cap has been placed on the Container Administrative Charge pending the final determination in July.
Under the directive by the Minister of Transport, the charge will not exceed GH¢720 per Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) for both import and export containers.
The GSA urged all stakeholders to comply fully with the temporary directive as discussions continue over the revised charges.
The notice was issued from the Authority’s offices at Ghana Shippers House in Accra.
