President John Dramani Mahama has joined other African leaders in Nairobi, Kenya, to participate in the Africa Forward Summit, a high-level France-Africa partnership meeting focused on sustainable development, economic resilience, and global cooperation.

A statement issued by the Presidency said the Summit, organised by Emmanuel Macron, had brought together African Heads of State, global business leaders, and international partners to strengthen collaboration on key development priorities across the continent.

The statement said President Mahama, who serves as the African Union Champion for African Financial Institutions, would on Tuesday join a high-level discussion on green industrialisation and energy transition.

The session is expected to explore strategies for accelerating Africa’s industrial growth while addressing the challenges posed by climate change and the global transition to clean energy.

Later in the day, President Mahama would participate in a working lunch on the reform of the international financial architecture.

According to the statement, the discussion would focus on improving African countries’ access to sustainable financing and ensuring that the global financial system becomes more equitable and responsive to the continent’s development needs.

President Mahama is also expected to co-chair a roundtable discussion on health under the theme: “Rethinking global health and building resilient national health systems.”

The Presidency said the engagement formed part of efforts under the Accra Reset Initiative to strengthen healthcare systems and improve resilience against future global health challenges.

On the sidelines of the Summit, President Mahama is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, IMF Chief Kristalina Georgieva, and Alvaro Lario, President of the International Fund of Agricultural Development (IFAD).

The meetings are expected to focus on global cooperation, economic stability, and food security in Ghana and across Africa.
