The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested 18-year-old Isaac Gyan for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl at Anomansa, a community in Senya Bereku within the Central Region.
The victim reported the incident to the Senya Bereku District Police Command on Saturday, May 23.
According to her report, the suspect, popularly known as Kwame Okoto, who lives in the same community, lured her into his room at around 6:00 AM on Friday, May 22, under the pretext of having a conversation.
The victim stated that as soon as she entered, Gyan quickly locked the door and forced himself on her. Despite her attempts to escape and her pleas that she was menstruating, the suspect overpowered and defiled her.
Following a police investigation, the suspect was apprehended on Saturday, May 23.
The victim has since been issued a medical form to undergo an examination at the hospital.
Meanwhile, the Central East Regional Police Command has urged the public to promptly report such crimes, assuring citizens of its commitment to arresting and prosecuting sex offenders.
