Kwadwo Safo, two others arrested over Adwoa Safo shooting incident

Police have arrested Israel Kwadwo Safo, also known as Akofena, in connection with the shooting incident involving former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo on Sunday, June 21, 2026.

According to the Ghana Police Service, the suspect voluntarily reported himself to the Regional Police Headquarters on June 22, 2026, after which he was transferred to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters to assist with investigations.

A search conducted at his residence and vehicle in Kwabenya reportedly led to the retrieval of 120 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 50 rounds of 45 calibre ammunition, 25 rounds of 40 calibre ammunition, additional loaded magazines, and two Glock pistols, one of which is registered in his name.

The Police further confirmed the arrest of two other suspects, identified as Nana Kwaku Afriyie and Kwadwo Safo Koomson, who are also believed to be linked to the incident.

All three suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be arraigned in court on June 23, 2026.
