Headmaster of St. Augustine’s College (AUGUSCO), Rev. Fr. Dr. Patrick Godfred Appiah, has raised concerns over the acute shortage of residential accommodation for staff, describing it as a pressing challenge that requires immediate infrastructure investment.

He made the remarks at the launch of the school’s 97th anniversary celebrations and the unveiling of a teachers’ accommodation project by the 2002 year group.

According to Rev. Fr. Dr. Appiah, only 60 of the college’s 140 teaching staff currently reside on campus, leaving the majority without accommodation within the school premises.

“Consequently, out of a combined institutional workforce of 206 employees, 140 staff members, representing 68 per cent of our entire workforce, remain non-resident, underscoring an urgent strategic requirement for staff residential infrastructure development for a college that accommodates up to 3,000 resident students,” he said.

The keynote speaker at the launch, Prof. Kofi Abotsi, called on old students of St. Augustine’s College to play an active role in supporting the school’s infrastructure development agenda.

“For a truth, our obligation to give should continue as a debt we owe to the school forever,” he stressed.
