The Ghana Medical Trust Fund, also known as MahamaCares, has taken another significant step towards bringing life-saving support closer to Ghanaians by engaging Regional Ministers from across the country ahead of its nationwide regional stakeholder engagements.

A statement issued by the Presidency said a high-level meeting brought together Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Professor Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, the Deputy Minister for Health, Mrs Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, the Administrator of MahamaCares, and Regional Ministers, to discuss the critical role regional leadership would play in ensuring every Ghanaian understood the Fund’s mandate and how to access its support.

Addressing the meeting, Mrs Darko-Opoku called on the Regional Ministers to champion the Trust Fund within their regions by engaging traditional leaders, faith-based organisations, healthcare providers, civil society organisations, the media, and local communities to help spread awareness.

The Regional Ministers pledged their commitment to supporting the initiative prepared to roll out stakeholder engagements across all 16 regions.

“Together, we are building a future where no eligible Ghanaian is denied life-saving specialised healthcare because of financial difficulties,” they assured.
