The North East Regional Minister, Ibrahim Tia, says the creation of the North East Region has brought significant development and improved access to government services for residents.

Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on Thursday, June 25, he said the region has benefited from major infrastructure projects and a fair share of national resources since its establishment.

According to him, Nalerigu, the regional capital, previously lacked many key government institutions but now hosts important regional offices and administrative structures.

He noted that the Regional Coordinating Council is operational in the area, while the Regional Police Command headquarters is under construction and nearing completion.

The Minister also highlighted the completion of the Regional Highways Directorate and the establishment of several other government agencies in the region.

Tia said it would be unfair to compare the North East Region to older regions because it is still relatively new and developing.

He expressed confidence that the region is making steady progress and will continue to grow with time.

The Minister further stated that his administration has worked hard over the past one year and six months to accelerate development across the region.

He said the government remains committed to its development agenda and believes the region will record even greater achievements if the current pace of progress is maintained.

Tia added that by the end of their four-year term, the government expects to point to significant successes in the North East Region under its development programme.
