A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) legal team, Victor Adawudu, has stated that former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) Chief Executive Officer, Sedina Tamakloe, is currently in the custody of the Ghana Prisons Service following her extradition to Ghana.

His comments come in response to allegations by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the government is shielding Sedina Tamakloe from serving a 10-year prison sentence imposed by the Accra High Court.

Speaking to Citi News on Wednesday, June 17, Mr Adawudu dismissed the claims and maintained that the appropriate state institutions are enforcing the court’s orders.

“All I know is that there are appropriate authorities that are supposed to ensure that the orders of the court are being enforced. So, to my knowledge, she is in the hands of the Ghana Prisons and the security people,” he said.

He added that individuals seeking further details should use the Right to Information process rather than rely on speculation.

“I am sure that with an application through the Right to Information, they will be given [the information], rather than speculation. But I can tell you that she is in the hands of the security, as she was handed over by the US authorities,” Mr Adawudu stated.

Sedina Tamakloe arrived in Ghana on June 9 after being extradited from the United States to serve a 10-year prison sentence handed down by the Accra High Court in connection with financial loss to the state during her tenure at MASLOC.

Her return to Ghana has generated significant public and political interest, with questions raised about the process surrounding her extradition and incarceration.
