Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Ghana , Rolf Olson has reiterated the United States of America’s commitment to ensuring that it collaborates with the Ghanaian government to clamp down on crime and terrorism activities.
He spoke at the 250th Independence Excellence Awards at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra dubbed “Freedom250”.
In his address, he cited the recent successful extradition of Former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) CEO, Sedina Attionu Tamakloe who was convicted for causing financial loss to the state and stealing.
“The United States deeply values Ghana’s partnership in confronting cyber-crimes and terrorism. Through close cooperation we continue to hold criminal actors accountable through evidence exchange, investigative support and extradition of fugitives,” he stressed.
Speaking as the special guest of honour, Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine said Ghana remains committed to collaborate with the US in fields of healthcare, education and infrastructural development aside crime related activities.
“Ghana is ready and willing to walk with the US on the onward journey for the years ahead of us. I reaffirm Ghana’s commitment to deepening her friendship with the USA. Together we can build a brighter future shared on principles and values,” he said.
